some more folks I have met…

*mark, the jolly butcher, who reminds me of my friend rohan in sydney, a booming voice and big belly. he sold me a few pieces of frozen “cobbler” – i wonder if its the same as “silver cobbler” aka catfish. I’ll ask him next time. he asked what kind of art i do, and, since today i am leaning towards publication, i told him that. he told me that a friend of his produces a magazine in bunbury, kind of political, called TWAT – the acronym stands for a different theme each time – he might try dig one out for me to look at. As far as IASKA goes, Mark said he liked the town music concert which happened last november (i think the artist’s name was noah).

*betty, and her husband allan. betty runs a craft and knitting shop a few doors down from the co-op (supermarket). we talked about how kirsten had bought some flamingo scissors. betty said they used to be employed for “filigree” work (whatever that may be), something about a very fine point for trimming around the edge of your tapestry without getting a jagged edge…evidently a dying art now…

*i bumped into tony again, the bearded fella on his bike, outside the co-op. he said he was putting on a potato bake for a barbie tonight, around at a mate’s place. my phone rang and it was marco, so i had to move along, but i think its not the last i’ll see of tony…

*donna, who is a key figure in running the gallery. she came up from tammin to get us rolling, me and cristina. gave us some key phone numbers to call in case of emergency, and folks she reckoned we’d be interested to meet…including adrian harley, who teaches art at tafe, and a fellow who lives out at an old school house in north barndee(?) and carves strange animals out of foam. that info was a bit sketchy so i’d need to seek it out more…donna recommended a visit to kokebin rock and mt stirling, where she said rock wallabies are returning due to the successful eradication of foxes…
