rules of the GAME GAME

THE RULES
YOU MUST INCLUDE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS IN YOUR GAME:

-THE OBJECTS YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN
-THE POINTLESS ACTIVITY YOU PULLED OUT OF THE HAT.
-SOME APPROPRIATE USE OF LAND/SPACE/TERRITORY IN YOUR GAME
-A SOUND WHICH IS UNIQUE TO YOUR GAME
-A UNIQUE COMMUNICATIVE CODE (EG IN GOLF THEY SAY “FORE!”)
-YOUR GAME SHOULD HAVE AN OBJECTIVE OR GOAL, OR A REASON. THIS OBJECTIVE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ABOUT WINNING AND LOSING. IT COULD BE VERY SILLY.
-A SET OF RULES FOR THE GAME, INCLUDING INFORMATION ON THE ROLES OF THE VARIOUS PLAYERS.
-HOW DOES THE GAME START AND END?

HOW TO WORK WITH YOUR “ELEMENTS”
LOOK AT THE OBJECTS – WHAT COMES TO MIND?
HOLD THEM IN YOUR HANDS – FEEL THEIR WEIGHTS/TEXTURES
-START MUCKING AROUND WITH THE OBJECTS- SEE IF THEY BEGIN TO SUGGEST A GAME THEMSELVES
-HOW CAN WE “MISUSE” THESE OBJECTS (USE THEM IN A WAY THEY WERE NOT DESIGNED FOR?)
DISCUSS AS YOU GO, WITH YOUR GROUP.
DOCUMENT THE STEPS IN YOUR PROCESS – NOTES AND PHOTOS
-KEEP A TRACK OF THE RULES YOU DEVELOP – REMEMBER YOU WILL PRESENT YOUR GAME TO THE REST OF THE CLASS.

BREAKING THE RULES
ALL VARIATIONS ON THE RULES, OR YOUR GROUP’S ELEMENTS, MAY ONLY BE MADE IN CONSULTATION WITH “THE BOSS”. “THE BOSS” HAS THE FINAL SAY IN WHETHER YOU MAY BEND THE RULES. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO MAKE A STRONG ARGUMENT FOR YOUR CASE.
